<p>Our client is looking for interim support for a 6-12 month period whilst the role is re-evaluated following a recent retirement before looking to substantively recruit into the position in the latter stages of 2024. The post will be banded at AfC Band 8C level.</p>
<p><strong>Job Purpose / Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Be fully accountable for the operational performance of the Division. This will include accountability for the delivery of a high quality patient focussed service with clinical safety, clinical governance, clinical quality, and delivery of financial targets.</li>
<li>Have responsibility with the Divisional Clinical Lead and members of the Divisional management team for driving forward divisional wide programmes of work and service direction.</li>
<li>Act as the lead Manager for the Division, and driver of a strategically important network in the wider health economy, working in partnership with other stakeholder organisations to promote and develop strategic vision and business interests.</li>
<li>To be responsible for scientific, laboratory operational management of the Cellular Pathology service.</li>
<li>Deliver an autonomous clinical technical service across all laboratory sites and as provided by Service Level Agreement or contract with other organisations.</li>
<li>Work as a key member of the Senior Management Team, who are responsible for the effective operational management and strategic direction of pathology services.</li>
<li>Ensure the operational area contributes to and meets objectives including working within agreed budget and delivering cost improvement savings.</li>
<li>Promote the continuous improvement in service delivery and quality within all areas of Pathology, using modern methods to lead in the delivery of service and workforce transformation and re-design.</li>
<li>Manage the work of senior staff in the operational area and develop a high performing culture in which members of staff are continuously improving the delivery of high quality services.</li>

<ul>
<li>The Deputy Divisional Director will assist with the delivery of high quality and high performing services for Surgery, within budget for an agreed level of activity at an expected level of service and clinical quality.</li>
<li>Assist with providing leadership and direction for the Surgical division, ensuring that this supports the fulfilment of the Trust’s objectives and patient safety requirements.</li>
<li>Assist the Divisional Director with the operational management of the division, ensuring the effective implementation of both national and local strategies and the achievement of service objectives.</li>
<li>Work with the Divisional Management Team to ensure the effective performance of the division and accountable for the delivery of all national and local standards, performance indicators and the Trust’s annual business plan.</li>
<li>Build an effective team to support and strengthen clinical leadership within the Surgery Directorate.</li>
<li>Be responsible for coordinating the activities of the divisions staff to ensure appropriate prioritisation and effective use of resources.</li>
<li>Take responsibility, when appropriate, for the management of contracts and contractual relationships corporately.</li>
