• The Operational Manager is responsible for operational delivery, operational performance, financial performance, governance, change and business development across the the Division.
• Work effectively in partnership with Clinical Directors and Divisional Nurses.
• Deliver a range of competing, challenging targets relating to recovery and financial, activity, RTT, cancer and quality improvement priorities.
• Provide effective leadership and is a key member of the Trust’s and Division’s Senior Management Teams.
• Responsible for the delivery of financial, quality, performance, productivity and workforce targets, including national targets and objectives set as part of Trust business planning.
• Proven experience of providing strong leadership and delivering operational performance and service improvement initiatives.
• Continually review organisational structures and clinical and business processes within their portfolio to maximise efficiency and productivity.

• Lead on the setting up and delivery of the service improvement programme for Endoscopy across the region.
• Work closely with the Senior Management Team as well as the wider Endoscopy Team to effect change in a timely way.
• Focus of the role will be to work within the Endoscopy Department to ensure patients have sustainable access to diagnostic services and will support the implementation of the Trust Strategy as well as the NHS Long Term Plan.
• Achieve set and agreed quality standards, financial targets and levels of performance.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the Directorate and Trust service strategies and objectives; in particular focusing on service improvements and efficiencies that will enhance patient care and improve patient pathways.
• Be delivery focused, flexible, determined and have a proven history of effective relationship building, particularly with clinicians and clinical teams and be considered inspirational and engaging by staff and external partners.

• Support the Director of Operations in management and leadership across the Emergency Department and Trauma & Orthopaedics.
• Be a part of a leadership triumvirate, responsible for supporting the effective and efficient delivery of the day-to-day operational performance.
• Ensuring sustainable delivery of high quality patient care, safety processes, operational standards and quality / service improvement programmes.
• Effectively respond and deliver the Emergency access targets and form a Trust response.
• Ensure that all performance targets relevant to Emergency Department are met and that Divisional objectives are promoted.
• Manage service changes and improvements for the Emergency Department as required.
• Review clinical activity on a regular basis and to manage the Emergency Department service effectively.
• Support and lead the Emergency Care Improvement Plan.

• Work with the divisional management team to ensure the achievement of performance and other local and national clinical and non-clinical targets.
• Effective management of the PTL (patient tracking list) and outpatient services.
• Provide first line operational management to outpatient and administrative departments and supervise systems and processes.
• Provide strong and effective leadership to specific clinical and non-clinical teams and individuals.
• Support the establishment of a clear vision for these specific work areas with senior colleagues to create a working environment that empowers staff to achieve optimal performance.
• Contribute to the wider management of the Directorate and of the Trust on specific projects as and when appropriate.

• Lead Theatres service delivery in accordance with agreed operational plans, meeting all key standards and KPIs.
• Support the delivery of the theatre efficiency programme.
• Co-ordination of the theatre team, day surgery unit and central admissions team.
• Reconfiguration of theatres and improvement of theatres utilisation.
• Working with the Divisional Director to provide effective leadership of the division.
• Work collectively with Clinicians and Managers to ensure effective delivery of service objectives across Theatres.
• Maintain delivery of service targets whilst improving quality, efficiency and effectiveness of services.
• Ensure that the highest quality, effective and efficient services are operationally delivered within defined costs, time-scales and resources.
• Operate effective and appropriate planning processes and structures, including communication arrangements.

• Be a key member of the Divisional leadership team, working with clinical and managerial colleagues to manage the design and delivery of clinical / non – clinical services within the Division.
• Contribute to the development of the strategic direction for specified areas in line with the Division and Trust’s overall strategy and improvement programme.
• Develop short, medium and long-term objectives, which are turned into effective, affordable and achievable annual service plans.
• Work with colleagues to review and redesign services in order to meet the needs of patients and enable the Division to achieve key performance indicators and reduce costs.
• Analyse and interpret a range of options in highly complex situations, making judgements and deciding upon corrective action.
• Accountable for the delivery of a balanced budget for the service area and developing a sound financial strategy.
• Manage non-clinical staff within the Division in line with the Trust’s employment policies.
• Along with the Clinical Leads for developing and implementing the clinical and corporate governance strategy across the service.

• Lead a team of performance managers and information analysts to review operational performance and supporting in setting the strategic direction for elective recovery.
• Act as a link between the operational, corporate and executive teams, providing high quality analysis to help the Trust understand its performance,and develop clear plans for improvement.
• Responsible for ensuring appropriate elective performance frameworks and policies are in place to support the Trusts Accountability Framework and assurance on elective performance.
• Work closely with senior clinical and non-clinical leaders to provide them insight and analysis of key performance areas.
• Analyse and interpret complex performance data, make judgements about the impact on agreed plans and targets and present options for appropriate action where necessary.

Our client are seeking interim support following the secondment of a member of their team to NHS E/I. The role leads combined Booking and secretarial teams, Patients flow, Out-patient and ward reception teams. The right candidate will have a nurturing and supportive style with experience in managing patient flow or bed management teams.

First Clinical are supporting out client based in the East of England for an interim Operational Manager until the end of March, however this is could be extended pending budget approval. The role will involve management of two sites and liaison with local partners as well as Macmillan Cancer. ENT and/ or Ophthalmology experience is desired, however not essential. Excellent communication skills and public relation skills are required.
