<p>Our client is looking for interim support for a 6-12 month period whilst the role is re-evaluated following a recent retirement before looking to substantively recruit into the position in the latter stages of 2024. The post will be banded at AfC Band 8C level.</p>
<p><strong>Job Purpose / Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Be fully accountable for the operational performance of the Division. This will include accountability for the delivery of a high quality patient focussed service with clinical safety, clinical governance, clinical quality, and delivery of financial targets.</li>
<li>Have responsibility with the Divisional Clinical Lead and members of the Divisional management team for driving forward divisional wide programmes of work and service direction.</li>
<li>Act as the lead Manager for the Division, and driver of a strategically important network in the wider health economy, working in partnership with other stakeholder organisations to promote and develop strategic vision and business interests.</li>
<li>To be responsible for scientific, laboratory operational management of the Cellular Pathology service.</li>
<li>Deliver an autonomous clinical technical service across all laboratory sites and as provided by Service Level Agreement or contract with other organisations.</li>
<li>Work as a key member of the Senior Management Team, who are responsible for the effective operational management and strategic direction of pathology services.</li>
<li>Ensure the operational area contributes to and meets objectives including working within agreed budget and delivering cost improvement savings.</li>
<li>Promote the continuous improvement in service delivery and quality within all areas of Pathology, using modern methods to lead in the delivery of service and workforce transformation and re-design.</li>
<li>Manage the work of senior staff in the operational area and develop a high performing culture in which members of staff are continuously improving the delivery of high quality services.</li>

<p class="p1">The Deputy Director of Operations is responsible for delivering the Trust’s Strategy, within Specialist Medicine Division and Local Services, incorporating the following:</p>
<ul class="ul1">
<li class="li1">Ensuring the standardisation of services across all relevant specialities to the best possible level, so that patients experience high quality care;</li>
<li class="li1">Lead on the planning, development and delivery of services to ensure that there is a common understanding of capacity and demand with clear operational plans to deliver the best in care in the most appropriate settings;</li>
<li class="li1">Planning and managing services to ensure the best possible use of resources. This will include income opportunities, reducing run-rate, delivering cost improvement programmes (CIPs)<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>and delivering the recommendations from benchmarking tools such as Model Hospital and GIRFT;</li>
<li class="li1">Leading the development of a sustainable workforce across multiple disciplines that is fit for the future within their area of responsibility;</li>
<li class="li1">Working with system partners to put in place clinical pathways that care for patients in the most appropriate settings, and reducing inappropriate or avoidable demand for acute services.</li>
<li class="li1">The Deputy Director of Operations will be responsible for all aspects of operational performance of the Division whilst maintaining quality standards and for ensuring the implementation and maintenance of good governance arrangements. This includes the line management of Service Unit Managers and associated teams.</li>

<strong>Location:</strong> London</p>
<ul>
<li>Responsible for promoting compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, Health Technical Memorandum, Guidance and that fire policy is implemented and effective.</li>
<li>Undertake &#8216;suitable and sufficient&#8217; assessments of fire risks within premises owned, occupied or under the control of the Trust and any other designated premises contracted by agreement.</li>
<li>Responsible for the patient flow to ensure that the Trust is able to meet the bed capacity requirements on a daily basis.</li>
<li>Liaise with General Managers/Service Managers to develop service, capacity and plans.</li>
<li>Define and communicate local patient flow objectives that will ensure the achievement of the organisational strategy.</li>
<li>You will also be involved with developing and delivering an extensive programme of general and specialist Fire Safety training to a wide audience.</li>

<li>Work in partnership with our strategic, tactical and operational teams and clinical and clinical support leads to ensure the development and delivery of an efficient, effective and high quality professional and coordinated Emergency Preparedness and Response service, meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements.</li>
<li>Develop EPRR plans and work streams, engaging with multi-agency partners and local stakeholders</li>
<li>Develop and support in implementing high quality and robust plans to ensure the Trust is compliant with relevant legislation in relation to emergency preparedness, resilience and response and business continuity.</li>
<li>Oversee the day-to-day management of the EPRR risk register identifying changes as required.</li>
<li>Monitor and manage the delivery of the EPRR annual programme of work in relation to emergency preparedness based on the agreed outcomes from the annual NHS EPRR assessment process.</li>
